Hiroshi Yoshizawa
Department of Neurology, Tokyo Women's Medical University
Some patients with neurodegenerative disease pathology or traumatic brain injury are cognitively normal in life. The latest concept of cognitive reserve (CR) is the differential susceptibility to brain aging and pathological changes. CR is associated with a lower risk for cognitive decline. The present review aims to cover the concept of CR, the methodologies of neuroimaging studies of neural basis of CR, and the possibility of prevention and non-drug treatment of dementia.
