The appropriate use guideline of amyloid PET states that the diagnostic significance of amyloid PET needs to be considered solely based on the the visual dichotomous diagnosis as positive or negative, and that the significance of the spatial distribution and the amount of accumulation in the brain has not been established. Recently, with the accumulation of knowledge on the quantitative evaluation of amyloid accumulation in the brain, it has come to be considered an important index for the stage of amyloid pathology, especially in the asymptomatic period of Alzheimer's disease. In this paper, the latest findings and the prospects of the issue will be discussed while mentioning the AHEAD study.
