Primary age-related tauopathy (PART) is a pathological term that indicates the presence of NFT in the medial temporal lobe without deposition of amyloid β protein (Aβ). It has been confirmed that senile dementia of the neurofibrillary tangle (SD-NFT) is dementia due to PART pathology and that PART pathology is one of pathological backgrounds underlying suspected non-Alzheimer disease (AD) pathophysiology (SNAP). Furthermore, it is suggested that PART pathology would be a part of AD pathology in patients with common late-onset AD.
