【Purpose】 For elderly individuals with dementia, we studied the effects of the intensive rehabilitation program for dementia by care worker.
【Methods】  For 30 individuals with dementia in the geriatric health services facilities, subjects were divided into two groups A and B based on the evaluation of the HDS-R score.  In group A, rehabilitation program for dementia by care worker was carried out individually, for 20 minutes, twice a week, for 24 weeks.  Outcome measures were HDS-R, MMSE, Barthel Index, DBD13, Vitality Index, and NM scale.
【Results】 In group A, the mean HDS-R score after the intervention was significantly higher than that of before the intervention (p<0.05). And the mean DBD13 score after the intervention was significantly lower than that of before the intervention (p<0.05). In group B, neither was also no significant difference.
【Conclusion】 Intensive rehabilitation program for dementia by care worker was effective in improvement of the HDS-R and DBD13 scores.
