The purpose of this study was to examine nursing students' social skill and the relation between the skill and both general self-efficacy and life experiences, where the social skill means skills and abilities to make personal relationship smooth.
Questionnaires were performed three times at appropriate intervals through one year in I University, faculty of nursing (First : 87 persons, second : 75 persons, and third : 71 persons). Social skill scale, general self-efficacy scale, and life experiences were investigated.
The results were as follows : 1) the social skill of nursing freshmen hardly changed through one year, 2) the correlation between the social skill and the general self-efficacy was strong, 3) the social skill of the students who had ever become positive and also lost their confidence in personal relationship showed a tendency to be high, and 4) it is thought that study experiences that rouse positive behavior, feedback that raises self-efficacy and support that makes college life rich are effective in raising students' social skill.
