after the Merger of One Urban Hospital
*Tohoku University Hospital
‘A' national university hospital merged with ‘B' national hospital when the new building for inpatients was built. We assessed the changes in work commitment of nurses in B hospital at the three points of time, 6months before the merger, right before it, and 6months after it. Questionnaires were handed out to all nurses in B hospital, and 48 with usable data were collected at time 1, 43 at time 2, and 34 at time 3.
The result of one-way analyses showed that the changes in 3 forms (affective, calculative, and normative) of organizational commitment and career commitment were not statistically significant. The result of t-tests indicated that the state anxiety was significantly related to affective form of organizational commitment.
