Differentiation and comorbidity between mood disorders and dementia

Differentiation between mood disorders and dementia is clinically important. However, it is not uncommon for both disorders to coexist. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the possibility of comorbidity while differentiating between the two. In addition, psychiatric symptoms may appear as a prodrome to dementia. In this article, we will specifically discuss the differentiation and comorbidity of mood disorders from Lewy body disease and frontotemporal lobar degeneration.
