Senior populations are raising rapidly in Japan and that are unparalleled in the past. Along with that, the proportion of voiding dysfunction and urological cancer tends to increase, and the role of urologist is increasing.
Anticholinergic drugs in the treatment for overactive bladder have been pointed out as problems with cognitive function, but there are reported few studies.
In addition, it has been pointed out that the decrease in testosterone and the decrease in cognitive function are related to the past. Androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer keeps testosterone in the castration values, but reports on cognitive function are limited.
In this article, we focus on cognitive dysfunction, especially with regard to treatment of these two diseases, and explain it with reference to previous literature reports.
