精神疾患ブレインバンクの運営と関連した諸問題

Management of Psychiatric Brain Bank and Related Problems

要旨: 精神疾患の研究において，死後脳サンプルのリサーチリソースであるブレインバンクは重要である。その運営には，① 厳正な倫理ガイドラインの遵守，② 国際的標準化手順の採用，③ 訓練されたユーザー，医療提供者，研究者の自発協力，が必要である。本稿では，精神疾患ブレインバンクの運営における生前同意と啓蒙活動の重要性，剖検脳の研究使用への家族の承諾を含む法的・倫理的問題，国際的標準化手順におけるクォーリティ・コントロール，迅速剖検，研究者のニーズへの適合性の問題に加え，脳サンプルの感染と安全性，財政的問題を指摘した。問題点の解決は，本邦のブレインバンクネットワークの組織化と研究の推進に資すると思われる。索引用語: 脳バンク，死後脳，倫理問題，生前登録
Abstract: The brain bank is essential research resource of post-mortem brains, and a recent progress of psychiatric research has owed to examine details of brain materials of mental illnesses. Such human tissues and bio-banking is a complex field, and managing brain banks needs some golden standards: 1) Abiding by strict ethical guidelines; 2) Application of international standardized procedures; and 3) Trained users, medical staffs and voluntary cooperation of researchers. In the present article, the authors discussed the importance of the registration system in advance to death and of announcing this activity, legal and ethical problems including informed consent of next-to-kin for research use of autopsy brains, international standardized procedures for quality control and rapid autopsy, and the suitability of the procedures which meets each researcher' s needs. The problems of infectious brain samples and their safety, and financial problems were also pointed out. It is essential to cope with these problems to organize brain bank networks in Japan and to promote psychiatric brain research.
