With great anticipation, it is our honor and pleasure to host the 18th Joint Symposium on Materials Science and Engineering for the 21st Century. The symposium will be held from June 26th to 29th, 2019, at Science Campus Hall, Tohoku University, located in the city of Sendai, Japan. Sendai is located at the northern part of Japan and serves as City of green and science.
The primary aim of the symposium is to allow the graduate students from participating institutes to engage in academic exchange so that students can broaden their perspectives, while also building relationships for collaborative research. We believe that collaboration amongst the young generation of researchers is vital for the advancement of science and technology in the future.
This symposium started out as a workshop between professors at KAIST and Tohoku University back in January 2002. In 2003, this workshop turned into a symposium, mainly organized by graduate students. Since then, the symposium has expanded to include prestigious institutes from Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hongkong. Currently, seven universities from six countries and districts are participating in this annual event.
Once again, we welcome you to the 18th Joint Symposium on Materials Science and Engineering for the 21st Century. We are anticipating a very rich and fruitful academic exchange, and we wish all participants an enjoyable, productive, and enlightening symposium.
